1. How did you get started in this line of work, and why do you do it?
I started this line of work quite by accident. At one point in my life, I wanted a change, and it seemed to me that the best kind of change was investing in myself. I enrolled in the Spanish Academy for Styling and Make-up (Cazcarra), thinking I would simply have a nice hobby—one that eventually evolved into the career I make my living from today. I never expected to pursue this professionally or for it to become my true calling, let alone that I would come this far! I don’t view what I do as a “job” because I live and breathe it 24 hours a day. I pour my heart and soul into my work, and every new project and upcoming wedding brings me immense joy.
2. What kind of bridal makeup is currently in fashion?
For many years, I have remained faithful to a specific makeup style—a minimalist one—which I believe is the reason most of my clients keep coming back to me. I love a fresh, healthy, and radiant complexion where the foundation is barely noticeable, softly defined brows and eyes, a naturally contoured face with a touch of blush, and pink or nude lipstick shades. To me, this is the most beautiful look for a bride-to-be. Makeup should help the bride look like the best version of herself, not like someone else. The most important thing is for her to feel good on her big day, because the most beautiful bride is a happy bride.

3. How can the bride give you an idea of ”what’s on her mind”?
Once they’ve booked their date, I am available to my brides around the clock; they often send me examples of the look they want, or we hold a trial session where we clearly agree on what they desire—and what they definitely do not want.
4. How should the bride prepare her face for makeup?
I often suggest to brides to take their time for the preparation of their facial skin. Even the most expensive and high-quality makeup will not look good on tired and gray skin that is not properly cared for. I suggest several cosmetic treatments for them in the months before the big day, which is an inevitable exfoliation and facial treatment with moisturizing products.

5. Do you have any tips regarding makeup for the big day?
My advice to future brides is definitely to opt for professional makeup done by someone they fully trust and whose work they are familiar with; otherwise, it can lead to major disappointment. Instagram photos—an endless source of inspiration for many—are one thing, but reality is something else entirely. Many brides aren’t used to wearing anything on their faces other than moisturizer, so professional makeup feels “heavy” to them by default! There is a vast difference between a bare face and one with professional makeup. When a makeup artist creates a so-called “no-makeup look,” it may appear soft and natural, but it actually involves skillful shading and evening out the complexion to ensure you look naturally beautiful. That is why my most important piece of advice for brides who don’t usually wear much makeup is: do a trial run of your wedding makeup!
