In a figurative sense, a mood board represents the “vision for your wedding.” It is our little secret for easily communicating your wishes and conveying ideas about style and colors to decorators, the bakery, the catering team, and other members of the planning team.
Creating this board is incredibly easy thanks to free online tools, and it will simplify the entire organization of your big day.
How to use a mood board
You can create a mood board for every aspect of your wedding. For instance, you might design a dedicated board for decorations, the dessert station, the bar, and so on; you can even get into the finer details by further breaking down these elements (e.g., separate mood boards for the ceremony décor and the reception venue décor).
How to create a mood board
1. Go to Canva and select a mood board with a layout that suits you, or type “wedding mood board” into the “templates” search bar and browse the available options to find one that fits your needs. Make sure to choose one that also displays a color palette.

2. After selecting your board, type “wedding” into the search bar under the “images” tab, and images will appear that you can add to your board. You can also upload images to your computer that you have previously downloaded from the internet.
3. The good news is that you can ungroup the colors by right-clicking, then click on the color in the top-left corner (next to Crop), and Canva automatically gives you the option to use colors extracted from the photos.

4. Once you have arranged your board, you can add more pages and create additional boards; then, you can download them from the top-right corner—either as an image to display on a mobile phone or as a PDF to email to organization members, or to print, store in a folder, and show them.
