While scouring the internet for wedding decor inspiration, we stumbled upon “Zdenka Dizajn” and were absolutely amazed! We spent days poring over her profile—we simply had to get in touch with her and share her story with you.

“One could talk about this line of work for days,” says Zdenka. Below, she shares her story and the latest trends in floral decor!

How did you get started in the business?

I started this business quite by accident twenty years ago, at the urging of a friend. We were both out of work and decided to give it a try—and the rest is “legend”! I’m joking, of course, but we did succeed through hard work, learning, and persistence. Although this job might appear easy and relaxed, in reality, it is anything but. It requires a great deal of effort, hard work, sacrifice, and a genuine love for what we do. But in the end, when we bring our vision to life, it all pays off. It is an indescribable feeling when a bride whose wedding we organized comes to thank us—hugging and kissing us, telling us how everything was perfect—with sparkling eyes and a smile on her face.

Which floral decorations are currently the most trending?

Regarding wedding trends, relaxed styles—such as boho and “greenery”—have been popular for several seasons; they are perfect for indoor and outdoor venues, unique locations, and increasingly trendy daytime weddings, or even for luxury weddings that adapt these trends through various combinations.

Floral installations are currently in vogue, including photo corners, floral initials, floral hoops, floral pillars, flower walls, and hanging floral chandeliers with string lights, among others.

What kind of bridal bouquets are trending?

Biedermeier bouquets are completely “out”; the current trend favors a casual, relaxed style featuring plenty of greenery, diverse plants, a mix of colors, and dried flowers. In fact, there are no hard-and-fast rules—everything depends on the bride’s wishes, and we take an individual approach to tailor the arrangement to her chosen style and personal preferences.

What does a typical wedding decoration day look like for you?

Executing a single wedding requires a great deal of preparation and work, depending on the complexity of the décor. Sometimes, it takes 10, 20, 30, or even more days to get everything ready. We set up certain elements—such as the photo corner—a day in advance whenever possible; then, on the wedding day itself, we finalize the bouquet, decorate the wedding car, and arrange the décor for both the reception venue and the church.

In practice, the workflow looks like this: decorating the venue, then the church, then back to the venue; after the ceremony, returning to the church to clear away the decorations, and finally heading back to the venue to ensure everything is perfect. Every detail matters in this line of work, and we only leave once the bride and groom have entered the reception hall. We return to the venue the following day to clear everything up, so we essentially spend two or three days constantly rushing between locations. Yet, we feel happy when the job is done—and even happier when we see the smiling bride and groom.
